Where we Started (Background)

Where Our Story started from?

Flaminio Vocational Training Centre was found in 1989 by Flaminio Mirieli (Italian) with permission and support of his Lordship Late Bishop Rt. Rev. Frederick Drandua of Arua Diocese as a Vocational Institution. That year 1989 the school was called Flaminio Tailoring school, because it was only offering tailoring course for girls/women (teenage mothers) which started as women club where all the activities of running the school, putting the structures was entirely sponsored by Flaminio Mirieli and in support of Arua Diocese. When the founder returned back to Italy where he later died there, the running of the school activities was hard and up to date due to financial problems to support the learners and the diocese of arua established a functional Board of Committee to oversee the smooth running of the institution like to determine and approving appropriate fees and this time the school has introduced many other vocational courses and the enrollment of students slightly increased as parents or guardians started to bring girls or women for hands on skilling for self- employment that’s why its name has changed to Flaminio Vocational Training Centre with former registration and licensing number MoES/BTVET/549 under BTVET. But the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) act, 2025 (TVET ACT, 2025) requires the school to re-register as a licensed TVET provider. To date the institution has graduated over 1800 learners and it is headed by principal (Chief Head Trainer) who is appointed by the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (MSMMC) mother house in Lira Diocese as the institution was handed to the congregation for its management and monitored by the Board of Trustees of Arua Diocese.

Flaminio Vocational Training Centre is Church owned and Non-Profit established on the Parish Land of Ediofe Cathedral and managed by the Board of Trustees of Arua Diocese headed by the patron Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki the ordinary Bishop of Arua Diocese with its immediate stakeholders who are the BOG Members chaired by Msgr. Casto Adeti the vicar General of Arua Diocese and parish priest of Ediofe Cathedral parish whom by the policy of Arua Diocese becomes the chair and appoints other members together with principal (Chief Head Trainer) Rev. Sr. Rijoo Angela of the institution in smooth running of the Centre.
